The Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK) said on Wednesday that Iran carried out a missile and drone attack on one of its bases in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, killing a member of its armed wing.

According to PAK, the strike targeted a base of the Kurdistan National Army in the early hours of the day. The group did not disclose the location but released a video showing damage at the site. PAK accused Iran of repeatedly targeting its positions.

The group confirmed the death of Mozaffar Mohammadzada, also known as Nabaz, a member of PAK who served in the logistics unit of its armed wing. PAK linked his death to the ongoing protests in Iran.

Iran has faced nationwide demonstrations since late December following a severe economic crisis and currency collapse. PAK has expressed support for the protests and claimed clashes with Iranian forces.

Iran has not commented on the reported attack.
